Burmester
Leo
Burmester has appeared in over fifty films, and he is a regular presence
on television. He has incarnated a wide range of characters, including
an apostle of Jesus in Martin Scorcese’s The Last Temptation of
Christ (1988), General Nathanael Greene in LIBERTY! The American
Revolution (1997), a boxing trainer in My Angel is a Centerfold
(2001), Osric in Shakespeare’s Hamlet (1990), and William Faulkner’s
Old Man in Old Man (1997). He was the Florida Prosecutor opposite
Al Pacino in the Devil’s Advocate (1997), and he played Cody
in John Sayles’ Lone Star (1996). He had notable roles in such
films as A Perfect World, Truman, Mistrial, Passion
Fish, The Abyss, Big Business, Broadcast News,
and Switchback. His most recent films include A City by
the Sea with Robert DeNiro (2002) and the soon to be released
Red Betsy (2003). He has been seen on many television programs,
including 100 Centre Street, Baywatch, Chicago Hope
and multiple episodes of Trinity and Law and Order.
Leo was also in the original Broadway cast of Les Miserables,
in the role of Thernardier, and played alongside Jason Robards and
Geraldine Page in the noted Broadway production of Eugene O’Neill’s
Ah Wilderness (1988).
